The Cochrane Lions Rodeo began in September 1968 at Lions Rodeo Park, with Lion Bert Powlesland as President. The first event featured Lion Ed Daeons roasting beef on a large BBQ, serving Beef-On-A-Bun to a large crowd. The 15-acre site along 5th Avenue West in Cochrane remains the location of the rodeo today.

Yes, the rodeo offers family-friendly activities for kids, including Pig Races, Catch the Rooster, Greased Pig Race, and the special event Mutton Bustin.
We have a kids zone located in the north ball diamond with bouncy castles, face painting, roping lessons, petting zoo, and much more.

Due to AGLC law and to protect the safety of livestock we do not permit pets at the rodeo.Although we absolutely love all animals and pets, due to the safety of all of the horses, cattle, and sheep, only certified service animals that have the paperwork with them and are accompanying the named handler will be allowed in.

There is parking available at Lions Rodeo Park for visitors. It is advisable to arrive early to secure a parking spot.

There are handicap parking spots just on the south side of the event centre, across from the McDonalds. We tried to make as many as possible. The Rodeo takes advantage of the natural hill side of our beautiful community so all terrain wheel chairs have had no issue. Unfortunately wheel chairs designed for sidewalks, have struggled in the past but we will do everything possible to assist

All normal event security procedures in place. ie: ID checks for those purchasing alcohol.

Yes, strollers are permitted.
